Derek Sturko
Derek Sturko is a former BC Deputy Minister with a demonstrated history of leadership in senior government administration. As Deputy Minister, Derek managed policies, programs and issues with a province-wide scope; promoted and implemented large scale organizational, program & business reform; lead legislative and regulatory improvements; successfully collaborated with partners and stakeholders; enhanced transparency, rigor and accountability in the workplace; and informed decision-making on matters with provincial impact.
Derek now uses his experience leading a provincial government ministry to advise both private and public sector organizations on strategy development, policy implementation, and resilience planning.
When he is not working, Derek loves to walk, travel, do home renovations, and spend time with his family, including his four adult children and growing set of grandchildren. He is also the Vice Chair of the David Foster Foundation where raising awareness about organ donation registration is one of the causes he champions.
