Commercialization Strategy

A biotech company was nearing the end of phase 2 clinical trials and was planning for commercialization. Their product had a very short shelf life, so they needed to analyze the trade-off between fewer manufacturing facilities at scale or numerous smaller facilities near population centers.

• Analyzed client documents and interviewed client staff to understand the biotech manufacturing process from beginning to patient to understand the cost structures and losses associated with each step.
• Built a custom operating and financial model for the range of scenarios (and combinations of scenarios) under evaluation.
• Used the custom model to unpack the trade-offs associated with each option.

The client executive team landed on an optimal manufacturing approach and better understood the economics associated with decision-making.
