- Context
A health authority’s health and wellness services portfolio faced substantial changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the departure of a key staff member, becoming a catch-all for various organizational functions. A comprehensive review was needed to address ongoing confusion about the portfolio’s role within the organization and to realign it with the health authority's mission and service mandate.
- Our Approach
- Conducted a current state assessment to document existing portfolio services, identify resource gaps, and determine departmental needs.
- Engaged in stakeholder interviews to clarify portfolio functions, identify interdependencies, and define intended portfolio role and responsibilities within the organization.
- Determined the optimal structure to best position the portfolio to meet its goals and objectives as set out in the health authority's annual service plan.
- Outcome
Provided recommendations to align the health and wellness portfolio with its core functions. This involved redefining the portfolio's purpose and vision, restructuring the portfolio accordingly, and developing a framework to improve clarity and collaboration across internal departments as well as external partners.
