A Canadian municipality had undertaken a large, city-wide transformation to accelerate and improve its permitting process as it relates to the development of new residential construction projects. This was City Council’s top priority and included process improvement, technology pilots, and policy changes.
- Our Approach
- Project managed the development and implementation of a new library of permit development conditions.
- Led cross-departmental workstreams to create alignment on complex process and policy elements, including roles and responsibilities, improved business processes, and new policy frameworks to support the development permit process.
- Led an analysis of the legal agreements associated with complex development projects to identify opportunities to create efficiencies.
- Outcome
The municipality has successfully implemented numerous internal process and policy changes that are accelerating the development permit process.
